Weekend Randoms

  • Three days. That's all I have left to work. I am very happy and relieved, but at the same time disappointed that it ended the way it did. I really did my best and that's all I could do. I am happy to have sold an embroidery machine on my first day by myself so that's definitely going to be helpful!
  • Sometimes I get a little nervous knowing that our next appointment is in just over two weeks. I'll be 13 weeks and officially out of the first trimester so I can't wait to be able to tell my extended family and friends, but we're holding off to hear the heartbeat at the appointment. As always, prayers are appreciated. We saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks so the risk is low and I haven't been having any problems so we're trusting God and knowing that He told us it will all be ok.
  • Oh and I love when people have expectant and new mom parking! It feels like an awesome treat and is always open!
  • Today we went to the Goodwill and I was able to find a pair of maternity jeans and maternity capri jeans for $7.71 each! They are in great condition, super comfy, and are being sold at Kohl's for $36 on sale $60 regularly...score!
  • I really need to find some t-shirts that fit me better. We plan on going shopping the day of our appointment if we have time.
  • I was told to call the MFM doctor to have them do a consult to tell me how long I need to continue the metformin during my pregnancy. When I called, they sent me to the diabetic counselor who ended up calling in a blood sugar meter and told me to check my sugars 4-5 times a day. What?! I passed the glucose tolerance test and she said my HbA1C level was borderline normal and looked great!
  • I checked my sugars 3 times and they were well in the normal range. I'm calling my doctor Monday. I'm not sure that's who I'm supposed to see. It wasn't for a diabetic consultation and I'm super confused.

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday

This week, I'm saying So What if...
  •  We're keeping my in-laws in the dark with my fertility appointments. I've tried to open up and I'm told that I should "wait until you've been trying a year" no matter what. Yep, even after I mentioned that I have PCOS and the doctor doesn't think I ovulate at all. No ovulation = 0% chance of pregnancy.
  • I was actually excited for my HSG. I figured that there was no guarantee of pain or something bad and it gets me that much closer to getting to know what our options are!
  • I come across as super put-together and organized at church when my apartment is a hot mess. Hey, it's a work in progress.
  • I got dressed to go to the gym and I decided to sew and take a nap instead. My allergies make me super sleepy and my allergy meds are no longer working.
  • I want to like yoga a lot, but I don't. It's ok, but I find it super difficult for me. I do it because it's good for me, but when the yoga teacher says things like, "The universe and animals know when you're at peace because they sense it and will do something to disrupt your inner peace", I can't handle that.

Sometimes and Always

Sometimes... I procrastinate when it comes to sewing.
Always... it ends up working out. I get the job done and it looks great.

Sometimes... I go to the gym in the morning and hang out on the couch the rest of the day.
Always... I'm glad I got a workout in and that's what matters, right?!

Sometimes... I feel anti-social.
Always... I snap back to my normal, social self and love being a part of things.

Sometimes... I miss teaching.
Always... I know what happened is for the best and I'm now able to focus on my health.

Sometimes... I think about getting a job and working again.
Always... I know that it's best for me (and my husband) for me to stay at home right now.

So What Wednesday

This week I'm saying SO WHAT if...

  • I weigh myself on the regular {like almost daily} just to see how it fluctuates, but I only update my weight weekly.
  • I had my husband and friends rearrange our furniture in the living room last night. I like change in the house and he always said no because the tv was too heavy {over 100 lbs.}. Since we were getting rid of the tv, I opted for a new living room set up!
Photo: New setup in the living room! http://instagr.am/p/ODE9legD9z/
Our living room is really small so we have to be creative!

  • I'm happy to be home from vacation. A week with your in-laws {or almost anyone} in a travel trailer can be fun, but a little much at the same time.
  • I'm thinking that today will be a rest day. I'm tired and did a lot at the gym and rearranging yesterday so I'm beat!
  • I have no idea what we're going to do for dinner again tonight. Leftovers, anyone?
  • I really love watching the Insanity infomercials and can't wait to do it when I weigh less and my knee and back are less sore.

So What Wednesday

This week I'm saying So What if...

  • I get really upset when we are out of our routine for a few days. I like knowing what to expect and being gone and coming back home makes that difficult.
  • I set the calorie range on MFP to lose 1 pound a week so that the calorie limit is higher {even though I want to lose more than 1 pound a week}. I stay under the lower ones, but I don't like the stress involved when I get to close to the limit.
  • I'm really excited about our trip to Boston/Connecticut with my husband and his parents. I'm also really nervous about it. Seven days in a travel-trailer all together {and not much privacy} is a long time. Good thing I love them!
  • I haven't put away clean laundry in a couple of weeks. It's clean, just not in the closet or dressers.
  • I always forget to take "before" pictures for the blog. Whether it comes to weight loss, organizing, cooking, how-to's...it just doesn't happen.

So What Wednesday

This week, I'm saying So What if...
  • I called my mother-in-law late last night to see if she wants to go to the gym with me today. She's coming over to go to the chiropractor and it makes me happy to have her see how hard I work and what I do in the gym.
  • I dropped my gym towel 15 minutes into my 60 minute workout and did not stop to get it. I was a hot, sweaty mess and was so thankful when a man picked it up for me 30 minutes after I dropped it.
  • All I think about lately is going to the gym, what I'm going to eat, and sewing an order for a friend.
  • I wrote an email to the property manager when they closed the pool 15 minutes early yesterday. The lifeguard went around telling everyone that the pool was closing and to get out with no warning or explanation. And, he was throwing tennis balls at people while they were swimming.
  • I spent most of my afternoon yesterday watching Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition on the internet. It inspires me and I love to see the transformations.
  • I want to encourage and inspire others to work out and eat right. If I can do it, just about anyone can!
  • I still need to write the follow-up posts for my Tyra Banks show episodes. I'm thinking I'll get the next one done this week and post it Monday.

Sometimes and Always

Sometimes... I really don't feel like going to the gym.
Always... I go anyways. When the sweat starts pouring, I feel great!

Sometimes... I like going to the gym with friends.
Always... I get a better workout when I go alone, but I'm happy they're with me to workout and get healthy too.

Sometimes... I get a little hungry now that I'm watching what I eat.
Always... I know that my diet is nutritionally sound and it's just a little hungry and will pass.

Sometimes... People ask me what I'm doing to lose weight.
Always... I tell them diet and exercise. Eating right and working out is a safe, proven way to get healthy.

Sometimes... I can't believe I let myself get so heavy.
Always... I know that I'm doing what it takes to do the right thing now and that's all that matters!

So What Wednesdays

This week I'm saying So What if...
  • I ate dessert for breakfast yesterday. I wasn't hungry enough to eat a meal and it was amazing.
  • We had a hodge podge for dinner yesterday. Bean and cheese burritos and chili cheese fries hit the spot.
  • I only feel like an adult when we're doing adult things like going to Home Depot or dressing up for events.
  • I reminded my husband not to turn on the tv until he was ready for bed. We're on a tv diet and he really needs to get more sleep. Going to bed at 11pm and waking up at 3:50am is not the best idea.
  • I finished another book and am considering buying a Nook or Kindle. My husband will insist I go the the library because it's free.
  • I finished my in-laws quilt top in a weekend, but I've been slacking on adding the borders. It's a Christmas present, so I have time!
  • I refuse to swim in the community pool when there are tons of people there. I don't like splashing and I like to be able to move in the water without hitting someone.

Sometimes and Always

Sometimes... I make a lot of food during the week and we have tons of leftovers.
Always... My husband tries to eat them all so we don't waste food (or money).

Sometimes... We have heart to hearts talks and make difficult decisions {like giving up Netflix}.
Always... We eventually adjust and know we made the right decision.

Sometimes... We have friends over and entertain.
Always... Some inappropriate funny things happen and have a great time.
Yes, those are pink handcuffs hanging from the chandelier. I put them up as a joke and the key got stuck in it and it took forever to get them down!

Sometimes... My husband says the funniest things and truly believes them {like how I can't go swimming because I just at a PB&J}.
Always... I laugh and reason with him {I know how to swim, I'm an adult, and there will be a lifeguard on duty}.

Sometimes... I like to keep things beween Phil and I for a while.
Always... When my sister finds out, she wonders why I didn't tell her sooner.

How I feel about being outdoors

There are certain things about myself that I have come to realize over time. Take for instance, my latest revelation: I am not the outdoorsy type. Seriously. I don't like it when it's too hot or too cold. I don't like bugs biting me and get a horrible allergic reaction when they do.

I used to think that I loved the outdoors. I played soccer and softball growing up and ran cross country in high school where we would go for week long camping trips in the mountains. I thought that I loved it, but I now realize that the memories I liked the best were filled with friends and had little to do with being outside.

I realized this the other night when we had a "campfire" at a friend's house. Everyone else seemed to be content with sitting around the fire, not caring how long the food had been sitting out, or where the bugs were. A bat flew by and no one was phased. What?! In preparation for the campfire I made sure to wear shoes, pants, and longsleeves so that I wouldn't get bit! When the smoke was coming my way, I moved. When they poked the logs and embers flew, I was not comforable sitting there as they were flying around too close for comfort.

That's when a friend of mine made the comment that I'm not the outdoors type of girl. Sure, I love the idea of camping, but not the reality. I really do wish I liked it more, but that's just not how I roll. In fact, I tend to be overly cautious when it comes to bugs, the sun, heat, or cold. It's part of who I am and I need to be prepared for those things and I don't think it's going to change any time soon!

So What Wednesdays

This week I'm saying So What if...
  • I've called the doctor multiple times this week to see if I can get an appointment for this week. Hey, it worked...I have one this afternoon!
  • To keep secrets between my husband and myself and to only tell close friends. Family tends to overreact and want to give their two cents and we want to make some decisions for ourselves.
  • I have no clue what we're having for dinner tonight. I always end up making something and it turns out well, so no big deal.
  • I haven't exercised in quite a while. My body hates me and it seriously takes weeks for it to get used to exercising. Plus, every time I've tried, I get really sick with allergies and my asthma acts up.
  • I've had to rearrange so many appointments this week. My husband can only take so many half days off work to make it and since I'm the one who is in charge of setting up appointments, I have to change them sometimes.
  • I don't want to work. There, I said it. I like staying at home and plan to do so until we need me to go back or I really want to work. Truth be told, I'm hoping that this will turn into me being a stay-at-home mom.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

This week I'm saying So What if...
  • My husband has been doing all of the housework. I have a show coming up and I don't have the inventory yet to not be sewing for two weeks before each show.
  • I need a little space from family sometimes. Yes, they are super helpful and awesome, but sometimes they can be a little too helpful.
  • I'm afraid to eat pizza since I stopped eating fast food almost two months ago. Last time I didn't eat if for three weeks I got really sick and I'm not up for that again.
  • I'm at the fabric store 2-3 times a week now. They keep having good sales and I run out of things I need.
  • I haven't been eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner until it's super late. I've been so busy and don't realize what time it is until I take a break.

Sometimes and Always #6

Sometimes... I plan dinner last minute when friends come over.
Always... I come up with something good and they love it!

Sometimes... I go to the fabric store more than I do the grocery store.
Always... I find either what I was looking for or something pretty.

Sometimes... I still get upset when people expect me to get a job.
Always... I love being at home and know that this is where God wants me.

Sometimes... I get stressed about little things.
Always... My husband is amazing and helps me get through.

Friday Letters

Photobucket

Dear Allstate... Thank you for getting my claim done so quickly. I can't wait to go get the diamond in my engagement ring replaced next week! I am also happy that I was able to talk to a different adjuster who made it possible to go through my jeweler, not some place that never called me back.

Dear One Tree Hill... I just started watching you on Netflix a few weeks ago and I have to say that it has provided me with so much entertainment. I can't wait for the final season to get on Netflix so that when I'm finished with these, I can watch it.

Dear Mom... I am so happy you called me back last night, but I couldn't pick up the phone because it was time for bed and I had to be up super early to take Phil to work. I realize you live on the West Coast, but the three hour time difference does exist and when you are done with dinner, I'm going to bed. I love you anyways and will call you today.

Dear Brother 1034d Serger... you are the newest and most awesome addition to my sewing room. I got you yesterday and breezed through threading and making some new products. You are amazing and it was a great purchase.

So What Wednesday

I'm linking up with Shannon for So What Wednesday!

This week, I'm saying So What if...
  •  I get interested in books/movies/shows way after everyone else. Yes, I just jumped into the Hunger Games trilogy and I love it!
  • I've been way too tired to get anyting big done. My allergies have kicked in and I feel like crap.
  • I used the term "jerkoff" on the phone with my mother-in-law last night. I told my husband and started laughing so hard.
  • I haven't been blogging as regularly. Sometimes I just need a break for a bit so I took it.
  • Our apartment is still in "reorganize mode." Yes, that means there's a lot left to do and with my craft show coming up, it will take longer than necessary.

Sometimes and Always #5

Sometimes... I get frustrated and act like a brat.
Always... My husband loves me and makes me feel better.

Sometimes... I crave a Big Mac at McDonalds.
Always... I decide not to eat the yummy goodness since I gave it up!

Sometimes... I get overwhelmed by everything going on.
Always... I pray about it and know that God has a better plan.

Sometimes... I'm happy that plans change.
Always... I know that it's for the best. Either I get more rest or have a great time!

Sometimes... I try out a new recipe.
Always... My husband loves it and wants me to make it again!

Sometimes and Always #4

Sometimes... I think that I've watched everything interesting on Netflix.
Always... I find something else to watch. Right now, it's One Tree Hill.

Sometimes... I overbook myself.
Always... My husband is there to help out so I can get everything done.

Sometimes... I miss drinking Coke.
Always... I'm so glad that I gave up soda. It was something that I had way too much and is so unhealthy.

Sometimes... I really want to go back to Jamaica.
Always... I love feeling the way we did when we were there for our honeymoon.

The Newlywed Game

Last week, Megan posted that she was going to do a link up of the Newlywed Game this week. Being newlyweds and in that "in love" stage, I thought it would be fun to join in.

The rules are simple...
You answer the five questions below and have your husband (or significant other) answer the same questions and put it into a post. Here are the questions:

1) What do you think my best quality is?

2) What would be your ideal date with me?
3) What was your first impression of me?
4) What is your favorite memory of us?
5) What do you see for us in the future?

So, without further adieu, here are our answers...

My answers:
1.
My husband's best quality is his kindness and compassion for others. He is very selfless and always wants to help others. It's amazing to me how much he does this without complaining.

2.
My ideal date with him would be going out to do some sightseeing around different towns/cities. I love being out with him experiencing new things.
3.
My first impression of him was...interesting. We met on the internet and his profile was great. The first picture I saw was really good, but then I saw another picture where it was less than ideal. It was so nerdy! I seriously thought he put up a before/after shot haha!

My first impression of him in person was interesting too. We met at a baseball game and when he was walking up to me it looked like he was carrying a man purse! It was (fortunately) a camera bag with a long strap, but it was funny! He was very sweet, happy, and nervous that night.
4.
I have so many favorite memories of us. I loved our first date in D.C., our wedding, and our honeymoon. They are all special and stand out!
5.
In the future, I see us buying a house, having kids, and living our lives together. I see us being happy and loving one another more throughout the years.

His answers...
1.
Your best quality is your compassion for others.

2.
A good date would be eating dinner with you then laying down to watch a movie.

3.
I thought you were upbeat, spunky, and very well organized.

4.
It is hard to pick a favorite memory.  I could put one down but I think I would rather tell you later in person. ;)

5.
In the future I see a house, two kids, and a life time of wedded bliss. :)

As you can see, I literally copied and pasted his answers directly from the email I sent him! And yes, he knew this was for a blog!

So What Wednesdays

This week I'm saying SO WHAT! if....
  • Yesterday was my birthday and other than the facebook comments, it felt like just another normal day. I wanted a low key day and asked my husband to not get me anything. All I wanted was to spend time with him on my birthday.
  • I was super lazy the past two days. I had a crazy-busy weekend and was exhausted.
  • I went on an interview last night. I love staying at home, but got contacted for a 2-day a week job. It didn't work out (on their end) and I knew from the beginning it was not something that would work out.
  • I just started watching One Tree Hill on Netflix and I actually like it.

Sometimes and Always #3

Since it's Tuesday, I'm linking up with Megan!

Sometimes... I plan so many things in such a short period of time.
Always... I end up exhausted the next day and get a day to just "rest".

Sometimes... I try to update my facebook status using my iPhone.
Always... it ends us changing some words to make it look like I can't spell!

Sometimes... I really miss teaching.
Always... I love being home and know that God is going to work some great things out with me being here.

Sometimes... I want to go for a walk with my husband in the evening.
Always... I either try and fail or am too tired.

Sometimes... I spend more money than I thought I was going to.
Always... I get a great deal with sales/coupons/money back for your next purchase!
